Tim and Eric Awesome Pack, Great Collection

Aussie Comedy Kingdom

'The twisted men behind TOM GOES TO THE MAYOR have created a truly original absurdist comedy show, and aren't afraid to put their bodies on the line for their surreal sketches, songs and mock commercials. Mindblowing genius in the tawdry wrapper of nauseating public access television. With their friends Steve Brule (John C Reilly), Zach Galafianakis and Weird Al Yankovic you're assured of tear tracks and laughter stains. Just let go and let them touch you in your funny place.'

I must admit, I was rather please with myself when I came across this little gem titled Tim & Eric's Awesome Show, Great Job! Flicking through the mass amounts of comedy shows and clips on the SBS On Demand iPad app, I came across the show which I'd heard about before and decided to check it out. This lead to getting a copy of the entire collection from the awesome team at Madman Entertainment, and spending the next week laughing hysterically at the oddidty and stupidity of this awesome program!

Broadcast as part of the late night [adult swim] comedy block on Cartoon Network from 2007-2010, and on The Comedy Channel in Australia ever since, the sketch comedy series created by Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim features surrealistic and often satirical humour with fantastic songs, hilarious advertisements (mostly for the fictional company Cinco) and other mental madness, all edited together with some amazing special effects that are truely out of this world!

Classic characters have been brought to life from this show, such as Dr Steve Brule (played by John C Reily, which spawned a spin-off series called Check It Out!...review coming soon!), Casey and His Brother, Spaghett!, Uncle Muscles, James Quall, Carol & Mr Henderson and heaps more. Actors David Liebe Hart and Richard Dunn are just two of the great ensemble cast that pop in and out of nearly all 50 episodes.

The DVDs itself are fantastic and filled with some awesome special features including bloopers, deleted and extended scenes, karaoke videos, episode commentaries plus heaps more. One of the more touching pieces from the collection is a tribute video to the late Richard Dunn, one of the older members of the cast who sadly passed away shortly after the final episode of season 5 was broadcast.

I was thinking of listing some of my favourite sketches from the program here but instead, I've created a YouTube playlist containing 10 of my favourite clips from the show. Check it out by CLICKING HERE!

All in all, I cannot recommend checking out the show any higher! However, it's not necessarily a comedy that will suit all tastes. Check out my top clips on YouTube, and some of the others floating around on the net and see for yourself. It's comedy that you'll either love or hate, I guess it was jsut lucky that I chose to love it!
